Description

Just back from a great weekend away with The Green Album for Open House London 2012. Open House is an event where the doors of 700 of London's buildings are open to the general public. This is The Battleship Building which is located in Paddington. I have to say, what was meant to be a 5 minute journey turned into a 40 minute walk; it was a complete nightmare trying to find this place and whilst using both Satnav and a map, trying to navigate over railway lines and under flyovers proved rather challenging. I have a stack of photos to post but very much wanted to start with this one as a great candid and amusing moment. These chaps spent an absolute age trying to manouvre what looks to be a doorframe of sorts around the amazing Art Deco staircase - they succeeded but it was not easy. I have opted for black and white as I think it most suits the scene. Oh, and the D700 was a complete joy to use and given how dark this location was its really done me proud.
More shots to follow; although given the poor weather I may space them out a bit. Will catch up with you all over the next few days. :-)

  • "Open house was fantastic. Was this building by the canal? This is brilliant and I love that PoV. Today was a disappointment. Spent 3.5 hours to get into the gherkin for 20mins at top and we were there an hour before it opened. Weather was pants too."
  • "It looks an amazing building, the door frame adds a touch of humour and surrealism."
  • "Annoyingly I was in London yesterday with my son but we knew nothing about this event until we were at Waterloo Station on our way home Great shot Martin and the human interest really lifts it!"
