Description

Shaxi was a key outpost on the ancient Tea-Horse Road covering most of Asia, which flourished from the 7th-century right up until modern times. Today it is a laidback rural village, and fortunately a lot less touristed that many of Yunnan's other ancient towns.
The writing on the wall, which dates back to the Cultural Revolution, translates to: "Make China rich and powerful, Make the ethnic groups prosperous and thriving, Make the population controlled"
