Description
Had an awesome all-night adventure on top of Sharp Top Mountain with my Adventure Pants photography buddies. We started the hike up to the top at midnight, and reached the summit in an hour and 5 minutes. (That's a very brisk pace) The fog and mist from the earlier storms made made everything including us pretty soggy (ok, sopping wet). Shooting stars a no-go, but there were plenty of other ways to shoot as we waited for sunrise. We were rewarded with a spectacular moon rise shortly after 3:00am with Jupiter, Venus, and I believe what was the star Aldebaran in close proximity to the moon. Sunrise was equally spectacular, revealing a lake of fog in all the valleys below the peak. Shooting through the mist was challenging, and it was hard to keep the lenses dry. The hike back was beautiful, and I would have loved to stop and take a few shots of the sunlight streaming through the treetops and lighting up the mist near the forest floor, but I was too tired to stop. Next time...
