Description
The grain was ready for harvest in this wheat field in southeast Loudoun County, Virginia. There are still farmers working the land in a county that is one of the richest and fastest growing in the country. I am hopeful that future generations of Loudoun residents will be careful to preserve the unique mix of suburbia and rural beauty that makes this county so appealing. :)
In the meantime I consider it a privilege and an honor to capture and document land that very few local residents have ever seen. These fields have been privately farmed for hundreds of years producing our food within a "stones throw" of our nation's capital.
It was Thursday in the early afternoon when a client called to say that the wheat was almost ready for harvest and could I possibly go out and take a few pictures on their property. Fast forward four hours and I'm standing waist deep in a golden grain field. I have a few more I'll be sharing from this shoot but this was the first of the day. :) The mountain in the distance is Bull Run Mountain.
Please do take a moment and click on the image to see it large on a black background. It really looks nicer that way and thank you in advance for looking at my work and for any comments, critiques and favorites. :)
And please don't use my images without my consent.
