For a few miles between Gretna Junction and Carlisle Citadel station Stanier Pacific 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland', resplendent in its Brunswick green livery, retraced familiar territory of half a century ago or more on the West Coast Main Line. In surroundings only too familiar to it, the 'Coronation' 8P Pacific passes the site of the former 12A Carlisle Kingmoor motive power depot and under Etterby Bridge, on the northern outskirts of Carlisle.
