Chilly Wasp Macro
In the unseasonally warm weather in early January we found a Queen Wasp exploring our dining room -- much to the alarm of the children!
As I escorted said wasp from the premises I tried a few macro shots (100mm macro lens and 25mm extension tube). It was really cold outside so the wasp stayed quite still and interestingly formed condensation on its body hair from my breath -- this gives it the slightly strange grey look. Probably should have used a slightly greater depth of field although the blur gives a nice ethereal feel to the shot. Hope you like it anyway.
I will shortly post a black and white version of the same image -- I like it but my wife doesn't!
I been in the Flickr Wilderness for some time but hopefully I should have more time in the next few months to post myself and browse/comment your streams. I look forward to seeing your work again.
