The photo editing process for this was a huge pain in the Arse. If you take a look at the Before and After Comparison, you will notice how much life had to be pumped back into this image. It was obviously worth the trouble, but still, combine the fact that I did most of the masking while sitting on an airplane with the tedious nature of color grading in changing lighting environments and you get, “excuse me, stewardess. Yes, can I get another vodka tonic please?
Seriously, I had gotten so used to editing photos in my comfy little studio, with my dimly lit surroundings reverberating tunes from my soothing slacker radio station, that I’m afraid that my battle tolerance has dropped a few notches. -- That’s right, my battle tolerance. -- Definition: Battle trained focus and concentration skills born from 10 long years in the post production & TV industry, staying up multiple days at a time with clients yelling and bitching about changes and deadlines, working all the time as a freelance mobile command unit, slugging my gear from studio to studio, animating each and every night away, with no need to set an alarm clock because I know the client will call me at 6am to go over additional revisions... -- By now you’ve probably noticed how I fondly cherish these memories. ;p
Now I just make pretty little pictures like the one below.
This was shot from the Jumeirah Public Beach in Dubai. This is the famous Burj Al Arab and is also commonly referred to as The Sailboat Building. Jumeirah Beach is a cool little spot to hang out. There is even a bit of surfing there if you catch it at the right time.
